I’m proud to share that The Code Lab has won the Digitalisation Award at the Louth Local Enterprise Awards 2026. It’s a recognition that means a great deal, because it reflects years of work building a platform designed to make coding genuinely accessible to Irish primary schools, not just in theory, but in the way it actually works for teachers and pupils day to day.
When I set out to build The Code Lab’s online learning platform, the goal was simple. Teachers should be able to bring high-quality coding education into their classroom without needing any coding background themselves, and without adding to an already full workload. That meant designing plug-and-play lessons, clear step-by-step video content, and a system that works reliably in any classroom, regardless of a school’s size or resources.
This award recognises that approach to digitalisation: not technology for its own sake, but technology built to remove barriers. It’s a philosophy that runs through everything at The Code Lab, from our Schools Coding Programme to our accessibility-focused initiatives supporting DEIS schools, children with additional needs, and Ukrainian and IPAS pupils.
I want to thank the Local Enterprise Office Louth for this recognition, and everyone who has supported The Code Lab’s growth along the way, from the schools and teachers who’ve trusted the platform, to the wider Louth business community that has backed me at every step.
This award gives real momentum to what’s next, including ongoing discussions with Louth County Council about a potential county-wide schools coding programme. Watch this space.
