How It Works

How to Book an Online Course

Our courses are designed for your child to code along at home, all you have to do is purchase the course, and we do the rest! Find out how easy it is to purchase and take our online coding courses.

STEP 1

Select Your Preferred Course

Our Code At Home Page has a list of the courses currently available to enroll in. Choose the course that best suits your child, find out more about the course by opening the course details, and follow the booking process. Once you purchase the course, you will receive an email with a link to log into your Dashboard on TheCodeLab.ie. This is where your child will access their coding lessons once they begin the course.

STEP 2

Code-Along with Our Video Lessons

When you enrol your child on one of The Code Lab’s coding courses, they will have immediate access to any Welcome information and Lesson 1 of that course. Each coding course contains 5 lessons. All lessons are pre-recorded and last approx. 40 to 45 minutes. They can watch the video, pause at the recommended points, code that section themselves, and then move on with the next step in the video.

They can re-watch the lesson as many times as they wish, creating new games or animations each time.

STEP 3

Earn Badges Along the Way

When your child is finished a lesson, they can mark it as “Complete”. They will earn a badge to show their amazing achievements so far on this course.

STEP 4

Move to the Next Lesson

Depending on the format of the selected course, your child may be able to move directly to the next lesson, or may gain access to it at the allocated time for their course. For example, if your child is enrolled in a 5-day or a 5-week course, one lesson will be released each day/week, this will automatically appear in your child’s dashboard.

If they are enrolled in a 5-lesson course with no timeline attached, then the next lesson will be available straight away. Once the next lesson is released, they can work through it at their own pace.

STEP 5

Certificate of Achievement

When your child completes all 5 lessons, they will receive a virtual Certificate of Achievement, which you can download, printout and proudly display at home, to show off to friends and family. Recognition is so important for kids, and our certificates are a big hit with our coding ninja’s!
